Gratitude, being nearly the greatest of human
duties, is also nearly the most difficult. And as grown-up people
hardly ever think of being grateful for the sun and moon and their own
souls and bodies, it is easy to excuse the immature for finding it
difficult to say thank you for a bag of sweets.
